Jacques Lemoisson

Founder

Jacques Lemoisson has managed and advised global macro strategies since 2005. He works from a quantamental approach: a fundamental global macro and top-down reading, worldwide and cross-asset, combined with quantitative processes.

He is the author of Global Macro Insight, a daily research note written for institutional readers.

  1. 2017–present

    Quantamental and alternative strategies

During this period Jacques acted as CIO and Head of Global Macro and Alternative Investment in Swiss private banks. In 2017 he was the first CIO of a Swiss private bank to apply a quantamental approach in a discretionary ETF portfolio.

He added cryptocurrency as an asset class, and in 2018 built discretionary and advisory alternative portfolios across private equity, microfinance and hedge funds.

  2. 2010–2017

Lombard Odier — geopolitics and global macro as a differentiation

In 2011 he developed and managed, with a quantitative team, a cross-asset ETF selection tool, whose mandate more than doubled over the following six years. In 2012 he deployed his global macro process through thematics in Chinese and American equities. Demography was added as a theme in 2016.

In 2016 the process suffered a mismatch: the elections were called correctly and the portfolio outcome did not follow. The response was algorithmic, and it is the reason quantitative reading sits inside the process rather than beside it.

  3. 2000–2008

JP Morgan IB — early adoption of new products

In 2005, at JP Morgan IB, he introduced ETFs to design tactical asset allocation through his global macro approach, leveraging the bank's research. The strategies were built to be agile and cheap, and were aimed at pension and insurance funds.

He built an ETF trading platform carrying substantial annual flow, and traded ETF, fund, futures and index arbitrage.

  4. Before 2000

    Innovation in fixed income

In 1996 he proposed that BNP Asset Management launch a fixed-income fund invested only in PIBOR-indexed bonds, so that the management could adapt to versatile central-bank announcements using the liquidity of a one-year horizon.

He traded curve, duration and country pairs.
